Wanda Care at Home

Ludisia orchid: the main types and options for home care

Orchid Wanda is a beautiful plant, very demanding in care. At home, growing it is quite difficult, especially for beginner gardeners. It is even more difficult to ensure that the plant blooms several times a year.

Popular Wanda Sandera

In violation of the growing conditions and improper care, the plants are sick, sometimes they die at all.

Temperature and humidity in the room

For the successful cultivation of Wanda, you should maintain the air temperature in the room at least + 25 ° C. Humidity should be around 70-90%. At the same time, the length of daylight provides at least 12 hours. For illumination, special phytolamps are used. Watering plants is recommended in two ways:

  • spraying the roots;
  • organizing baths for Wanda orchids.

Important! At the same time, you should be aware that any watering method is used only in the morning, so that before nightfall the flower has time to lose all excess moisture. If this does not happen, then the plant begins to hurt, stops in growth and development. Watering in the summer is carried out daily, in the cold season - every other day or even less.

Soil and fertilizing

Every 3 months, Wanda's orchid needs to be fed with lemon juice to strengthen her immunity and stimulate the formation of flowers. To do this, you need 1 teaspoon of juice diluted in 1 liter of water.

Also in stores they acquire special top dressing, which is recommended to be used once a month. Some florists advise fertilizing Wanda with water, which previously soaked a banana peel.

Streptocarpus (orchid) Wanda is different in that it does not require mandatory planting in the ground. In vivo, it grows in limbo. For indoor cultivation, you can use a basket with large weaving.

If this method of growing confuses the grower, then you can take a wide bowl and pour in it a standard substrate for orchids. At the same time, a large number of holes must be made in the vessel so that the roots are provided with the necessary ventilation.

Not so long ago it became known about the new method of growing Wanda in a glass flask, which was demonstrated by the Dutch. In order to implement this idea, you need a transparent vase with a large volume, with a wide bottom. The decisive role here is played by compliance with the rules of care.

With this unusual method of growing, the orchid is lowered to the bottom of a glass vase. To water, water is poured directly into the vessel and wait until air bubbles stop rising on the surface, which indicates that Wanda (the flower) got drunk. The remaining liquid is carefully drained.

Transfer

Orchid Wanda, care and cultivation in ordinary home conditions for which cause a lot of trouble to flower growers, does not require frequent and mandatory transplants. If there was a need to move it to a larger container or simply replace the substrate, then the flower must be well watered first so that the pieces of the bark are better separated from the roots.

Alone, they do not give any effect, because these lighting devices must be used exclusively in combination.

Breeding methods

Cultivation of the Vanda orchid implies two main methods, however, at home, flower growers prefer to use the most affordable and effective - the lateral processes (or children).

Division

If aerial roots are formed on the upper part of the Vanda orchid, then it is carefully cut, planted in a container with special soil for these flowers and placed in a warm, humid place (you can build a greenhouse), avoiding direct sunlight. The work is carried out with a pre-disinfected tool, the place of cut is treated with crushed activated carbon.

A young plant is not watered, only spraying is carried out until it is well rooted and starts to grow. After that, you can take care of him by the standard method.

Side shoots

An unusual orchid of the Wanda and Cattleya variety, even with perfect care, extremely rarely forms lateral shoots, called children. Even if such a miracle happens, then there is no need to rush to separate the young plant from the mother. The sprout must reach a height of at least 5 cm and form its own spine.

Only after this, the baby can be cut off from the main stem, planted in a pot with a soil mixture for growing orchids and placed in a greenhouse, where the air humidity is maintained at 85%.

After 2 weeks, the young plant begins to slowly accustom to the climate of the apartment. When it reaches a height of 20 cm, it is transplanted into a larger container. It is imperative to treat all places of the slices with ground cinnamon or charcoal.

It is very difficult to grow Phalaenopsis Wanda in room conditions, the process is troublesome and requires the organization of careful and careful care. However, the efforts of flower growers will certainly be justified after your favorite flower will delight not only with luxurious buds, but also fill the room with a fabulous aroma. In addition, it looks very unusual and exotic, therefore it is suitable for those florists who are bored with ordinary classics.
